What’s the difference between covalent and hydrogen bonds in DNA?

    The Backbone of each Stand of DNA (Deoxy Sugar) is made up of covalent bonds and the bases A-T C-G are linked together by weaker Hydrogen bonds. These weak bonds allows the two DNA strands to separate to allow for replication. See the link below for an excellent tutorial with animations on this subject
